Prototype 1

Prototype 1 was printed as a 3D model of a vertical green wall plant holder. This prototype would allow for us to use a wall to either grow upwards or outwards depending on the space availability. It can also be utilized for indoor or outdoor use, through the application of a hydroponic system. Hydroponic systems generally include faster growth rates and larger yields due to the plant's increased accessibility to nutrients. This technology also reduces water usage compared to traditional agriculture. This design already incorporates a passive hydroponic system composed of a wick system. The wick stretches down into the solution and draws up the growing medium. This design does have limited root space making fast growing lettuce and herbs, such as rosemary, the ideal plants for this system.
