Ko wai kei (location) i te/ngā (object)? - Who is located where?
E.g. Ko wai kei roto i te ruma ako? / Who is in the classroom?
Ko Rīhari kei roto i te ruma ako / Richard is in the classroom
Hei mahi:
- Using the Te Mātāpuna textbook, study Te Whakamārama 2.9 on page 38. As you can see from the examples, you can put a 'ko wai - who' phrase together with a 'kei - location' phrase together to ask the question - who is located at a specific location.
- Copy the 4 examples of questions and answers into your book, then translate them to English.
- Complete the Hei Mahi on page 39 in your book, then peer mark your with with a classmate.
- Using your device, find 3 x pictures of people located in various places and near various items (each picture must have at least 3 people in them). Copy and past the pictures onto a google doc. Add names to the people in the pictures on your document. Then, pair up with a classmate and sit so that both of your device screens are visible. Then, take turns at asking each other 'ko wai...kei...?' questions about the people in your pictures. Your partner must listen to your question, then figure out which named person in the pictures you are talking about. Your partner must then answer your question with the persons name as their answer. If they get their answer right the first time, they get a point. Keep going until you have asked and answered questions about all of the people in both of your 3 pictures. The person at the end with the most points, gets a prize.
