Fall Senior Class Meeting, presented by AHS Counselors
CASFA (Colorado Application for State Financial Aid)
FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)
Though some of your classes are quarter-long classes, Arapahoe is technically on semesters. Some classes are worth .2 credits, as opposed to .5, which is how you account for those quarter classes on your application.
Teacher Letters of Rec from sources outside of AHS should be submitted directly to the institution either via email or snail mail by the Recommender. Students should compile a list of direct email addresses and due dates for all of their schools that require LORs, and share it with their Recommender(s). A direct email address is something like bsapplicant@bc.edu for Boston College, or transcripts@colorado.edu for CU. When in doubt, the student should contact their rep for guidance.
The counselor form is filled out by counselors and sent along with the counselor letter. You must request both on the blue Tracking Form.
Click here to view the AHS secondary school report, which is also called a school profile. This document is automatically sent with transcripts.
Do not wait on your letter of recommendation. Submit your application as soon as it is complete and polished. Your college does not need to receive everything at the same time.
There is no research that shows any substantial change in test scores from the effects of “prep” programs. Strong academic preparation is the best foundation for these tests. However, some students do benefit from additional support as they take the big step to standardized tests. This includes not only national research, but local research as well. Purchasing an ACT or SAT prep book at a local bookstore can provide as much help as direct classroom instruction if a student is self directed, dedicated, and willing to devote the time needed to study and prepare for major tests (stop by the Post-Secondary Office to check one out!). Students who are not committed to studying on their own would do better in a structured class setting. Computer programs are also available at a variety of prices and Khan Academy offers a FREE test program!
