The U.S. Military consists of six active-duty Service branches and their respective Guard and Reserve components. Together, they offer a broad variety of ways to serve. There are two very different ways to join the the military: either enlisting or commissioning as an officer, and knowing the difference will help you understand how the military works. See Today's Military for an explanation of each path, then search the following websites for more info.:
If you are a student, start your search at Operation Military Kids.
If you are a parent/guardian, start your search at each branch's website: Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, National Guard
