OVERVIEW
This course develops a student's knowledge, understanding and skills across a wide range of mathematical topics.
Examination board: Edexcel
Course title: GCSE Mathematics
Three written examinations - each is 1 hour 30 minutes in length, has 80 marks available and is worth a third of the final grade
Papers are tiered: Higher (grades 9-3) and Foundation (grades 5-1)
THE DETAILS
The content of GCSE Mathematics has been grouped into topic areas:

Statistics
Students will develop confidence, fluent knowledge, skills and applications in mathematical techniques to solve problems.
Over the course of study, they will also be motivated to comprehend, interpret and communicate mathematical information in a variety of forms, appropriate to the information and context.
THE EXAMINATIONS
The GCSE exam will be entirely assessed by written examination. There is no coursework requirement.
Paper 1: Non-calculator paper (80 marks, a third of whole grade)
Paper 2: Calculator paper (80 marks, a third of whole grade)
Paper 3: Calculator paper (80 marks, a third of whole grade)
