CSF membership criteria

California Scholarship Federation Membership Criteria


A. To qualify for CSF membership, follow these guidelines:


1. You must earn a minimum of 10 points from last semester's grades.

a. The first 4 points must be from LIST I (English, Math, Lab Science, History, Foreign Lang.)

b. The first 7 points (including the four points described in a) must be from LISTS I and II.

c. The remaining points may come from any LIST (I, II or III).

2. You must use no more than 5 courses to qualify.

3. NO CSF points are given for physical education, courses taken in lieu of physical education, subjects repeated to improve a grade, courses involving clerking and office/teaching assisting, and courses taken on a pass/fail basis.

4. CSF points are granted as follows:

a. A = 3 CSF points**

b. B = 1 CSF point**

c. C = 0 CSF points

d. D or F in any course, disqualifies you from membership for the semester.

** 1 add.’l point shall be granted for an A or B in an AP or Honors course, up to a max of two points per semester.


B. Also remember:

1. Semester membership is based on work done in the previous semester.

2. You must reapply each semester.

3. Can only apply for grades 10-12

4. Applications will be available in September and February

a. application deadline will be 2 weeks after it is announced in the bulletin

5. Membership dues are $5 a semester and pay for graduation items.

C. Membership Categories

1. Life Member – graduation gold cord

a. membership in 4 semesters – at least 1 in the senior year

2. Life Member Highest Honor – graduation gold sash

a. membership in all six semesters grades 10-12
