Graduation Requirements

Nipomo High School offers a comprehensive high school curriculum in Agriculture, English, Fine Arts, World Language, Health, Mathematics, Physical Education, Science, Social Studies, Special Education, and Career Technical Education skills.

Each student shall earn a minimum of 235 credits. Included are these specific requirements:

English

40 credits

Visual & Performing Arts or Foreign Language

10 credits

Health

5 credits

Mathematics

30 credits

Must include: Algebra I


Physical Education

20 credits

(10 credits required during 9th grade/Pass Fitnessgram Test)

Science

20 credits

Social Studies*

30 credits

Must include:

World History — 10 credits

U.S. History — 10 credits

American Government — 5 credits

Economics — 5 credits


General Electives

80 credits



* Juniors and seniors are required to complete 10 hours per year of community service with a non-profit organization.

Credit Deficient Students

Students that are deficient in credits will be expected to meet with their counselor to review options for making up those credits. Those options include Summer School, Adult School, online classes, or credit recovery.


*Note: By the end of Sophomore year students should have a minimum of 120 credits
