Partnership Policy

2.8 Partnership Policy

Library partnerships must support the mission of the library, must be structured to meet library patron needs, and must be evaluated for effectiveness in meeting patron needs. The director is responsible for deciding whether corporate or public-partnership involvement meets these criteria.

The Little Dixie Regional Libraries Board of Trustees may enter into partnerships to achieve service objectives, which fulfill a true need, will have a clear impact, and are uniquely suited to library authorship and involvement, within the mission of the library.

The Library Board may enter into partnerships with any private or public entity, which has goals and interests complementary to Library program and values.

Advertising shall be limited to tasteful displays of the partner’s name, logo, and slogan or brief statement of business purpose. Advertising that gives the appearance of endorsement by the library shall not be permitted without the written consent of the Library Board.

Library staff should hold sponsored and donated materials to the same standards as those used for library-purchased materials.

The Library Board shall formally approve substantial or ongoing partnership projects. The director in accordance with the criteria set forth in this regulation may approve all other projects. In each instance, a written agreement shall be entered into at a minimum, include the following provisions:

a. The objectives of the project and how they should be measured (in detail).

b. Whether the organization/corporation will be the library’s only partner or the only partner from a particular industry.

c. The resources for which each will be responsible for, and

d. The areas for which each will be responsible.

The Director is responsible for evaluating each partnership project and reporting the results to the Library Board on a timely basis.
