Objectives of the Week:
This week, the students investigated into who they may contact as primary resources throughout the Exhibition.
Throughout the Exhibition, the students are becoming familiar with the idea of Academic Honesty. They were introduced to Noodle Tools, showing them how to create a works cited page, and keep track of secondary resources. This tool is used throughout the secondary school as well, so this gives them the opportunity to explore programmes they will be using in the future. We will use this week and next to review NoodleTools and Citations with group workshops.
Thank you to all the parents who were able to join us this week for our second Present, Connect, Reflect. Students shared what they have accomplished so far in their Exhibition process, highlighting their framework and where they have started their research.
If you were unable to attend, please take a look at the slides and document we used to help guide our discussion. Take the time to discuss your child's exhibition process with them using the "What", "How", and "Why" below.
This week, the students read and signed the below technology agreement. This agreement is used throughout primary and secondary school to help guide students towards appropriate behaviour with devices, and becoming strong digital citizens.
"I think my first mentor email was okay. Not the best, not the worst. However, I could obviously improve. Mainly, the way that I did not say 'firstly' as it should be formal rather than friendly. Also, I gave her the wrong schedule. This is bad because she chose Day 1 which was unfortunately when I was busy. So, I edited it and replied with a sorry. Next time, I will be more professional." - Manuela (6.1)
"This week I am feeling good about the Exhibition because I got a lot done. I got to work with my mentor twice. It was fun because my mentor asked me a lot throughout the week, and so did my friends. Everyone helped me a lot, and I am thankful for that. I am very proud of what I've done this week because I have support from so many people. This has helped me to become more confident than before. I have some ideas about actions already which is fantastic. The first week was stressing me out a lot. but I feel more confident now because I have ideas for primary resources" - Imad (6.2)
"So far I have 2 LOIs. I am a little worried because I still need to do one more LOI and I don't know what it's going to be about. When I am done with my LOI though, I will be relieved. Then, I will only need to do my questions and I can start to research. Ms. Anton showed me some good resources that I can use, and she is going to help me find some books for my topic. I am excited to go to Ms. Rose's for my meeting and I hope it will go well. I will use the tips from the talk about interviewing with Mr. Eugene to make it go smoothly. I will continue to get support from Mr. David and help from Ms. Anton and Ms. Rose. " - Zoë (6.3)
