At Drew, we believe it is important for our children to develop their knowledge and understanding of scientific concepts, methods and processes as they develop their understanding of the world. Science plays a vital role in improving our lives and the world we live in, not just in the present but in the future and we want to inspire confident young scientists who are excited, curious and questioning, who see the relevance of science in their lives, want to improve our world of today and the future and who aspire to succeed in the next stages of their science education and future careers.
In Year 6, we learned about light! We learned that light appears to travel in straight lines and used this idea to explain why shadows have the same shape as the objects that cast them!
In Year 1, we have learned about animals and their diets! We classified animals into herbivores, carnivores and omnivores!
In Year 2, we learned about animals and microhabitats. We observed the microhabitats in our eco garden!
In Year 3, we learned about our body exploring our skeleton and muscles as well as the functions of different parts of our body. We also learned about healthy, balanced diets!
Our children at Drew love being Scientists and if they are keen to do more learning at home, they can click on this link to find learning for their year group.
Mrs Reynolds is our Science lead at Drew Primary School this year. If you have any questions about our Science curriculum and want to know more, please feel free to speak to her.
