Wider Reading
The Library Bus:
The bus brings our community together. It is open at the end of the day for all families to get involved with the joy of reading.
Children are able to explore the library books as a class, where they sit and engage in a book together, really building love and imagination through every new adventure. This is another great space to dive into great novels and story books.
These are books to take home - make the most of them!
The Reading Area:
The idea for the reading corner came about when the school were deciding on the best way to utilise an empty space. They decided that there would be no better way than to fill it with literature, love, and adventure.
Staff at the school also asked the pupils what they would like to do with the space, and with reading being a popular activity for the children, there was overwhelming support for the creation of a calm and comfortable area dedicated to sitting and reading.
‘I must read accurately, at a good pace and with expression to become a fluent reader.’ (KS2)
Our Local Library:
Our children have the opportunity to experience visiting North Woolwich Library. Each child gets their very own FREE library card to be able to take as many books out as they would like throughout their time with us at Drew.
‘I didn’t realise how many doors reading unlocks. The adventures are magical.’ (KS2)
