English at Drew
English at Drew
At Drew, all children are confident speakers, fluent readers and creative writers who have a love of language and literature. They experience a range of worlds and cultures through the use of quality texts and stimuli that inspire, excite and engage them throughout their learning.
At Drew Primary School, our English curriculum has been based around great texts to support creative writing. Lessons are built around hooks, collative discussions and opportunities to build as many connections within other areas of the curriculum. We have made a conscious effort to expose children to a variety of genres repeatedly across their time at Drew, to build depth and independence.
Following this page, you will see how each unit is supported by the same themed class novel to develop children’s understanding and expose them to further knowledge that will support them in their learning.
