General information

Cambodia, officially the Kingdom of Cambodia is a country located in the southern portion of the Indochina peninsula in Southeast Asia. It is 181,035 square kilometres (69,898 square miles) in area, bordered by Thailand to the northwest, Laos to the northeast, Vietnam to the east and the Gulf of Thailand to the southwest.

Cambodia has been a member of the United Nations since 1955, ASEAN, East Asia Summit, the WTO, the Non-Aligned Movement and La Francophonie. According to several foreign organizations, the country has widespread poverty, pervasive corruption, lack of political freedoms, low human development and a high rate of hunger.



The flag of this nation has a deep meaning for its inhabitants: the two colors represent the bravery of the nation, liberty, cooperation and brotherhood. The flag also features a depiction of the Angkor Wat, which symbolizes justice, heritage and integrity.



Cambodia official religion is Buddhism. Angkor Wat is a temple complex in Cambodia and is the largest religious monument in the world. Originally constructed as a Hindu temple, it was gradually transformed into a Buddhist temple.
