Demography

origins

The population is mostly of European origin, especially of Italian or Spanish ancestry. Argentina is undoubtedly the country in the world that has welcomed more immigrants after the United States.

In recent decades, immigration from Europe has ceased almost entirely, replaced by that proceeding from neighboring countries: Bolivia and Paraguay in particular, located mostly in the northern provinces of the country.

the indec census

The National Institute of Statistics and Census of Argentina (INDEC) has shown that the population of Argentina is 40,666,000 inhabitants, in the estimate made in June 2008. Argentines usually refer to the country as a "crisol de razas" that means "crucible of races" or "melting pot".

A third of the entire population of the Country is situated in the capital city: Buenos Aires.
