Unit 1 - Paper Sculptures
Students shared about themselves including their likes and dislikes. They created monochromatic portraits using various shades of their favorite color. They are tinkering and experimenting with paper to create a sculpture representing likes/preferences and personal characteristics.

How does my genius-type make me wonderful?
Unit 1 - We're All Wonders
Students examined their genius-type (multiple intelligence) test results and wrote "wonder statements" to explain their unique qualities, differences, and aspirations. They also created a colorful, patterned collage as a background for their portraits and then presented their final products to peers.

What are my strengths and interests?
Unit 1 - Where I'm From Poem + Silhouette Portrait
Students reflected on their personality traits, passions, and interests to discover their multiple intelligence types. They used the results to complete a life map and write a poem modeled after George Ella Lions' famous, "Where I'm From" style. They are creating a silhouette filled with words and pictures that represent each unique aspect of themselves.

What are my creative and muitiple intelligence types?
Unit 1 - Compare/Contrast Essay + Spilt Face or Micrography Portrait
Students researched a famous person who shares their multiple intelligence type. They wrote about this person and how the intelligence type helped them become successful. Students then compared themselves to the famous person in an essay. They are working on a special art piece of choice to accompany the essay.

What is my personality type and how do my strengths help me in the real world?
Unit 1 - Life Story + Digital Mosaic Portrait
Students researched 3 types of mosaic art: Roman, Spanish, and Modern to discover their similarities and differences. Students were then challenged to take this ancient art of the past into the digital world and design a self-portrait that incorporates each person's strengths, gifts, and talents. Students also wrote life stories including how their personalities have developed and helped them succeed.
