Students will read Outside In and discover how nature brings itself from the outside to the inside.
How can nature been seen, heard, smelled, and felt inside just like it can when I am outside?
Students read and responded to the book Outside In by listing things from nature that make their way into inside spaces. Next, they went on a nature walk to hunt for and collect pieces of nature to bring inside. They sorted their findings by type of object and then created a piece of art from all the beautiful parts of nature.

Students will share their self-simile poems and portraits with peers.
How does each part of my portrait connect to my character traits, likes, strengths, gifts, talents, and genius type?
Students celebrated the completion of the self-simile project by reading their poetry and quizzing friends on how each 3D object represents a personality trait within the poem. They also extended this self-exploration by choosing a body part and writing why they call it, "The Best Part of Me!" For example, "my hands are the best part of me because I can use them for building with Legos and working with tools."
