25/26Liberty Bands Fall/Spring Calendar

The band had a busy end of October/November before Thanksgiving break! We had two playoff games, performed a Veteran's Day program, AND took a trip to the most Magical Place on Earth, Disney World and Universal Orlando! We had Liberty students representing in Stambaugh Youth Concert Band and Middle School Honors Band as well!

Some students enjoy heavy metal so much they dedicated an afternoon playing baritones at Tuba Christmas!

To start off December, the HS Band marched in the Youngstown Holiday Parade and dressed up at nutcrackers!

10/31 - The LHS MB performs "Thriller!" at a home playoff game...in costume!

11/11 - honored our Veterans with the sounding of Taps, and a performance of "Armed Forces - The Pride of America."

Liberty Golden Leopard Bands

The Liberty Golden Leopard Bands are a proud musical tradition of Liberty High School, located in Liberty Township, Ohio. Committed to musical excellence, character development, and artistic achievement, the band program has become one of the most respected and accomplished in the region. From the concert stage to the marching field, Liberty musicians demonstrate dedication, discipline, and a true passion for music.

A Tradition of Excellence

Since its unification as one ensemble in 2014, the Liberty Symphonic Band has consistently earned Superior Ratings at OMEA Adjudicated Events, PMEA Adjudications, and numerous regional competitions. The Liberty Concert Band has also achieved top ratings, including a Superior Rating at PMEA adjudications and multiple Excellent Ratings across OMEA events.

The Liberty Golden Leopard Marching Band is widely known for its showmanship, precision, and community pride. The marching band has claimed top honors including:

1st Place – Marching Band (Festivals of Music, Chicago, IL)
1st Place – Flagline
2nd Place – Majorette Line
Outstanding Overall Auxiliary Unit (Flagline)

The band has also earned the title of Grand Champion at the Festivals of Music – Hershey, PA and is a three-time champion of the Youngstown Christmas Parade (2022–2024).

Honors and Opportunities

The Liberty Band program provides students access to elite performance opportunities and honors ensembles at local, state, and national levels. Students have been selected for:

Stambaugh Youth Concert Band
Youngstown Symphony Youth Orchestra (performed at the OMEA State Conference)
Cleveland Youth Wind Symphony (including principal chairs)
Ohio State University High School Honors Band
Ohio University, Kent State, and Ohio Northern Honors Bands
Athena All-Girls International Honors Band
Sound of America Honor Band (European Tour)
Kent Youth Winds, YSU Honors Band, and more

In addition, the Liberty Band program is a consistent top performer at OMEA Solo & Ensemble events, earning numerous Superior and Excellent ratings.

Preparing the Future of Music

Liberty Band alumni have gone on to pursue music degrees at prestigious institutions including: Youngstown State University (Dana School of Music), The Ohio State University, Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, Westminster College, Kent State University, Allegany College, Central State University

Their areas of study include Music Education, Music Performance, Music Production, and more—a testament to the strong foundation provided by the Liberty band experience.
