Updates and Weekly "Wanderings" from Principal Martellone
Dear Estabrook Families,
Happy Sunday and Happy Mothers Day to all of our Estabrook moms! I hope you've had a quiet weekend and a great day!
This week was a fun one at Estabrook as we celebrated teacher appreciation with some delicious donuts and coffee for staff (along with some upbeat music too). We're very appreciative of everything our staff does to support Estabrook students!
As you may have seen from my communication last week, we have had an increase in COVID cases in Lexington so we're having students have lunch outside as much as possible to help decrease large numbers of students inside at one time. We have just a short amount of school left for the year, so anything we can do to help mitigate increased illnesses will be a help!
We're gearing up to meet new families (and existing ones) at our upcoming Kindergarten Screening dates (June 1 and 2). If you're a current Estabrook family with a student that will be old enough to enter Kindergarten (5 years old by the last day of August) please be sure to contact central registration to have your child registered. You cannot sign up for a screening appointment until this is completed.
For fifth grade families, mark your calendars for June 22nd for the Grade Five Move Up day and related activities. I'm working with fifth teachers and parent volunteers to get all of the details planned and you will be getting information shortly.
Be sure to check out the PTO Corner below...we have LOTS of end of the year happenings and we'll need parents for some and we'd also love to have families and students participate!
Best,
Mr. Martellone
Student COVID-19 At Home Antigen Testing Reminder
We continue to send home antigen test kits every other week for at home testing. The district has provided this form for families to use to report a POSITIVE students at home antigen test. You only need to report positive tests. It is preferable that you report the positive test by 9:00 AM on Tuesday mornings, so the nurses will check the form after that 9:00 AM deadline. This is only to report POSITIVE at home tests via the LPS At Home Testing Program; if your child tests positive at any other time during the week, please call the school nurses.
If you have not already opted in, this is the form to use to opt in to the at home antigen test program.
Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, A Fifth Grade Play
By: Maddie C
On Thursday April 14, some of the Estabrook fifth graders put on an awesome play of Charlie And The Chocolate Factory! They memorized their lines very well! Charlie And The Chocolate factory was originally a book by Roald Dahl . After months of hard work, the fifth graders had made a wonderful production of Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, it was such a fun experience!
The Actors
In the first scene, Candy Man (Laila L) started off the play by pushing her candy cart while singing a song. She sang beautifully! Willy Wonka (Sam L) entered his first scene by doing a cool back walkover! Also, everyone had really amazing costumes. For instance, when Violet (Kensi J) ate the 3-course dinner gum of Willy Wonka’s, she had a cool, blue, inflatable suit she wore in this scene! And, let's not forget about Charlie Bucket (Adam R), one of the most important characters in this play! He did a great job of acting. For example, when he found his golden ticket he was very happy! Don’t forget that Augustus Gloop (Brendan S) LOVES chocolate! Spoiled Veruca Salt (Jacky F) did a great job acting and had a pretty costume! Also, Mike Teevee (Madox M) was quite funny!
The Tech Crew
Charlie And The Chocolate Factory had a great Tech crew! One of the many great things about this play is that they had cool props and backgrounds. Thanks to Aodren S and Adi N for the great backgrounds such as the chocolate factory, Charlie's house, and many more! Also, Great job Hansini N and Anna T for the cool props like the stuffed squirrels, Wonka Bars, and others! There were also cool sound effects done by Lucas T and George F. There were some great pictures taken by Zoey S too! The tech crew did a great job helping out with the play!
Great job to everyone in Charlie And The Chocolate Factory! This was a great play!
