School News and Updates for the School Week ending January 14, 2022
Hello from Principal Martellone
Dear Estabrook Families,
I hope that this message finds you doing well. By now, you should have received a letter which was sent out by the superintendent earlier this week, alerting you about Ms. Riendeau finishing her tenure as principal of Estabrook School, and my appointment as the acting principal through June of this year.
For the past three years, I've worked as the Director of Innovation and Instructional Technology, and I continue to do that work, along with being the principal at Estabrook. Prior to my LPS work with technology, I was the principal at Fiske Elementary School for 9 years and overall, I was a principal/administrator for almost 20 years.
My primary focus for my time at Estabrook will be to ensure that all of the great things that have worked at the school continue to move forward. I'm student centered and work diligently to make sure that students are safe and learning. I'm most appreciative of the warm welcome I've received thus far, and I've spent the past couple of days popping in and out of classrooms, meeting staff, and meeting with key school staff that will provide me valuable information which helps my transition into the school.
Unless I'm in meetings, my goal is always to greet students at arrival and dismissal while at Estabrook. I've included my picture (left) so if you see me, you'll know who I am. Be sure to say hello!
Ms. Gavin, our Assistant Principal, continues to be a steady presence at the school. Should you have any questions, you can always reach out to either her or me and we'll be happy to see how we can help you! My email address is tmartellone@lexingtonma.org.
Parent Pick Up
If your family picks up by car for Dismissal one or more days a week, you must display a Car Sign in your window. If you need a new sign, please collect one at Estabrook’s main office, or print and complete this Car Sign to display in your car. Please write in large, clear letters with black ink so that staff can quickly recognize your child's grade level and your family's name.
Absence Form
If your child will be absent for any reason, please complete the Estabrook Absence Form in addition to contacting the school nurse or office. If your child will be absent for a number of days in a row, it’s only necessary to complete the form once. It’s very important that we receive this information for our records. Thanks for your cooperation.
Winter Attire Reminder
In order to participate in winter recess, students must have appropriate snow gear. We recommend that students bring snow jackets, snow pants, snow boots, a hat, and waterproof gloves during the snowy winter months. Students will need to be wearing snow pants and snow boots in order to walk on or kneel in the snow. Otherwise, students will be directed to play on the hardtop area, which is cleared and open for play. Appropriate winter gear keeps students warm in the winter temperatures. Please have your child wear a winter coat, boots, gloves and a hat as a daily responsibility

Run of the Mill Post-Race Party Volunteers Needed!
Thank you to all of the parent volunteers who have signed up to help out with this year’s Run of the Mill, a beloved May Estabrook tradition that includes a Fun Run, 5K, and after-party! This year’s race will be held on Sunday, May 22nd.
We are looking for volunteers to help organize the post-race party for this year’s event. This role would entail planning and organizing the post-race party (including food), helping to set up and take down the party, and being on hand during the party to ensure things are running smoothly. Please note that if you are planning on running the race, this is not a good position to volunteer for.
If you are interested in helping out or learning more please email info@estabrookpto.org .
