It's hard to believe that we are already at the end of the first half term in Year 1. The children have been awesome and really have worked their socks off!
As always our last two weeks have been filled with learning. In art, we have been exploring shading and textures in our pictures as well as looking at recreating the style of Van Gough with our line drawings. We have also looked at spacing when drawing faces and the positioning of features.
Throughout the year in science, we learn about seasonal changes. Emerald class enjoyed their leaf trail and we all drew the first of the seasonal trees to show what happens to deciduous trees in the autumn. We have started learning about animal groupings. We have found out what features animals have to be classified as mammals, reptiles, birds, fish or amphibians.
In Literacy, we had great fun making marmalade sandwiches as a stimulus for writing instructions!
