THE PLANET LEAGUE !

Planet Super League is back!

Last year, many children at Brookfield took part on sporting, educational and sustainable challenges in order to score 'goals' for our local football club Sutton United. Here are some examples of the challenges.

There are 77 football clubs and hundreds of schools that will be competing to score the most green goals and top the league! You can take part for FREE. You can score goals by completing green activities in school & at home! Make learning about climate & sustainability fun, competitive and inspiring!

If you would like to take part in the activities at home, please follow this link. The window for this years competition is open until Sunday 13th November.

A huge thank you to all the children who spent time designing and creating their wonderful posters for the Met Police's annual Christmas tree appeal poster competition. We were blown away with the unique, creative entries. Thank you so much for your efforts. All entries have been sent to our local Youth Engagement Officer who is overseeing the competition for the borough of Sutton and we look forward to hearing back from him soon! Good luck everyone!

ORU SPACE, SUTTON

Oru Space, a forward thinking start-up is setting out to transform the landscape of Sutton High Street with a new destination for coworking, wellbeing and hospitality.

On Monday 14th November 2022, the first phase of the project launches, with Oru Intro, Sutton’s first taste of creative coworking with 50 Hot Desks, 10 Fixed Desks and Standing Desks, as well as a lounge, meeting room and refreshments – offering 25% off for founding members.

With a bustling site on Lordship Lane in East Dulwich already under their belt, they have been working with Sutton council in renovating the upper floors of the old BHS building on Sutton high street, which has lain dormant for over 7 years. The finished project building will boast a 500 desk co-working space, with 40 private offices, a 170-seat café-restaurant, nursery and yoga studios with extended wellness offerings. The rooftop area offering panoramic views of Sutton and London will be transformed into a community-led garden and greenery designed to support wildlife.

The name ‘Oru’ is derived from Tamil meaning ‘For One’, and the company’s values are a true reflection of this with the community at the heart of the space. Purpose-driven and people-centred, Oru’s social initiatives will be supporting local primary schools, businesses, charities, and non-profit organisation in the area.

This time around we are hoping to use our commission money to purchase non-fiction texts for KS1.

We also received a voucher that allowed us to choose a few new books for the nursery.

If you were unable to visit the fair, make sure you check out what's on offer when it returns again in the spring term!
