Careers at LEO!

Train to teach with LEO Academy Trust!

LEO Academy Trust is incredibly proud to work in partnership with the National Institute of Teaching (NIoT) as an Associate College to deliver Initial Teacher Training, (ITT) Early Career Framework (ECF) and National Professional Qualifications (NPQs) from September 2025. Associate Colleges are successful school trusts, selected because of their wealth of in-house expertise in professional development and their deep relationships in their local areas. This collaboration allows us to be at the forefront of educational excellence, providing local teachers with unparalleled opportunities for professional growth, learning and development. Together, we are shaping the future of teaching and learning, ensuring that every child receives the highest quality education.

Applications for our primary ITT courses are now open for September 2025! Our initial teacher training is a fully immersive school-centred programme - aspiring teachers will be in the classroom from the very start. But full immersion does not mean that you will be thrown in the deep end: our trainees are mentored and have central training once a week.

To find out more about our ITT programme please visit our NIoT site here.

Please note that this document is updated regularly.

School Uniform

The uniform shop now stocks uniform with our new school logo. This is now available via the SchoolWearInc website.

As you are aware, in line with the new LEO uniform policy, all children should be wearing black school shoes rather than trainers as part of their school uniform. From Monday, parents of children who are still wearing trainers will recieve an email from the school office reminding you of this rule.

Free School Uniforms

Sutton Community Uniform Bank provides free school uniforms for 4 - 18 year olds (they are unable to provide footwear). There is no eligibility to use this service (it is open to anyone with a child or young person who needs a school uniform).

Naming uniforms

Please can you ensure that all of your child's belongings are named.

Haircuts

You will be aware that our school uniform policy states no extreme haircuts. We have noticed that some children have had logos or letters shaved into their hair. This is not allowed under our school policy.

Jewellery, Hair & Make-up

Jewellery such as rings, earrings or bracelets are not to be worn to school. In pierced ears, a plain round stud may be worn but must be removed for physical activities (including dance, gymnastics and swimming). We allow children to wear watches but they remain the responsibility of the child at all times. For safety reasons, long hair should be tied back at all times. Any hair accessories must be of the school colours and should be fit for purpose (i.e. not a fashion statement).  No extreme styles of haircuts or eyebrow shavings are allowed. Hair must be of a natural colour and not dyed. Make-up and nail varnish are not allowed to be worn at school at any time.

Delivery Dates Message (from the Uniform Shop)

Effective Monday 4th November 2024, through till Monday 28th April 2025, SchoolWearInc's delivery schedule to schools will change to a fortnightly basis.
This adjustment is part of their commitment to lowering carbon emissions and making a positive impact on the environment.

Medications at School

If your child has an illness that requires them to take medication during school hours (e.g. antibiotics, cough medicine, creams etc.), you must fill in the Medicine Permission Form linked below.

This form, and the medication, must be brought to the school office on the morning that the medication is due to start. The school office staff will administer the medication at the times stated on the form by the parent/carer. You can collect the medication at the end of the school day, or at the end of the illness.

Please do not send any medicine into school with your child, this includes sore throat lozenges.

If we do not have a completed Medicine Permission Form we will not be able to administer medication to your child

Parking in roads around the school

A polite reminder to avoid parking over driveways or in ways that could be dangerous in the roads around both sites. This helps keep everyone safe, especially our children.

Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

School Fund

We pride ourselves on offering our children varied and exciting experiences that help to support their learning of the curriculum. The School Fund will allow us to provide additional activities, school visits and enrichment opportunities across all year groups.

We have a voluntary school fund donation of £10 a term / £30 a year per child or £40 for a family if there are siblings at the school. We are aware of the current cost of living crisis and any donation will be gratefully received.

Parents can make payments for the School Fund online through our Arbor payment system. Simply log in to the parent portal and navigate to your child's home screen, then visit the school shop. From there, you can choose the appropriate school fund option based on your needs. You also have the flexibility to purchase multiple school funds. The available options are: School Fund - £10 per term, School Fund - £30 per year for each child, and School Fund - £40 per family for siblings attending the school.

We would like to thank you for your continued support.

Family Support Worker

A guide for parents: Transitioning from Primary to Secondary school

Starting a new school, with new teachers and classmates can be a very daunting and overwhelming thing. With that said, it is also a very exciting time and a big milestone which every young person experiences.

As a parent it is in our best interest to support our children through these unfamiliar times, therefore focusing on exciting opportunities such as: new subjects, activities and friends. Celebrating the milestone of finishing primary school, and all the ways they have grown, can really boost their self-esteem and confidence.

I understand that many of us may not have had a great school experience and the negative, worrying feelings that our children display could then trigger us and bring up some unwanted feelings and thoughts. Rest assured that you are not alone, we have all had some form of bad experience in our school days, but so long as we are encouraging and understanding, our children should feel at ease which will also be helpful for us as adults and parents.

If you would like any more support please feel free to contact the Family support worker.
