Year 5 have been busy exploring the world in the last two weeks! In English, they've been putting themselves in the shoes of one of the main characters from our class text The Explorer, writing diary entries chronicling their adventures after crash-landing in the Amazon Rainforest. In Maths, they've mastered the art of translation and reflection, and are now tackling the challenge of converting between different units of measurement. Science has seen them take flight, comparing the life cycles of birds and amphibians. History lessons have focused more on the local area, with the year group analysing a census of our area to uncover hidden stories about the community. Finally, in Art, imaginations have soared as students researched and designed attire for expeditions to the Amazon rainforest or the mysterious surface of Mars!
Over the next couple of weeks, we will be learning:
Maths - We will be continuing with conversions of different units of measure.
Writing - In English we will be writing poetry based on our text 'The Explorer'.
History - We will be looking at sources to infer what has happened to different people on the census in different local areas.
Science - In Science we will be continuing to look at the life cycles of different creatures.
