In year 2, we have been learning:
Maths - we have been measuring and comparing the volumes of different liquids, using scales to measure them accurately.
Writing - the children have been learning how to use commas in a list and possessive apostrophes for singular and plurals, all linked to our latest book, 'The Night Gardener'.
History - in our topic, What is a Monarch?, the children have looked at the features of castles when William the Conqueror reigned and how they changed through the years afterwards.
Science - in our topic, Plants, the children have been looking at the life cycles of different plants. Lavender and Emerald have also been studying different types of leaves in forest school..
Over the next couple of weeks, we will be learning:
Maths - the children will start to learn how to solve word problems all about capacity and volume.
Writing - we will start planning, writing and then editing a thank you letter to a character in our latest book, 'The Night Garden'.
History - in our topic, What is a monarch?, the children will look at answering the question "Why was William the Conqueror a significant figure?". The children will have to write like a historian, thinking about what sources they know (Bayeux Tapestry) and the impact William had on castles in England.
Science - we will be continuing to track the progress of how much our plants are growing and log the information in an online diary.
