It's been a whirlwind of activity in Reception these past few weeks! One of the highlights has been witnessing the magical transformation of our butterflies. After patiently waiting, our little friends emerged from their cocoons, much to the delight of everyone in the classroom. We marveled at their delicate wings as they fluttered around in the net, sipping on sugary water with their long tongues. It was a bittersweet moment as we bid them farewell, releasing them into our growing area, knowing they were off to explore the world around them.
In literacy, we've been reading 'Jack and the Beanstalk'. The children have eagerly embarked on crafting their own retellings with a beginning, middle and end. We tried hard to write the sounds we could hear in words while remembering to use finger spaces, full stops and capital letters.
In math, we've been on an adventure of discovery with number bonds to 10. Making learning interactive and fun, we've utilized egg boxes and tens frames to grasp the concept in a hands-on way. It's been incredible to see how these practical activities have deepened our understanding of numbers and laid a solid foundation for future mathematical adventures.
Our artistic talents have been on full display in art class as we delved into the world of still life. From selecting objects and photographing them, to meticulously drawing and painting our compositions, we've loved every moment.
