What a brilliant start to the new half term Year 5 have had!
In English, we have started our new book 'The London Eye Mystery'. The children have made some fantastic predictions based on what they think will happen in the book. We have also explored the main character Ted and his personality; this will help us consider some of his different actions as we continue reading.
During maths, we have been exploring column multiplication. The children have used their problem solving skills to understand how some answers are incorrect and used their reasoning skills to explain this. We would like to encourage the children to continue with times table rockstars as this will help them incredibly in the weeks to come.
This week, we started a new science topic 'Out of this world!'. The children explored the solar system and the definitions of a planet and a star. We also completed a 'Now Press Play' where the children went on an exciting trip in space. This immersive experience was a brilliant hook into the new topic and also allowed children to use their listening and comprehension skills.
We also started our new Real PE cog looking at our creative skills! This term we will be playing seated volleyball which will allow us to explore a range of different skills to become successful in the game.
In computing, we explored what it meant to be a Super Digital Citizen and how to keep ourselves and others safe online. We explored different scenarios involving issues on the internet and the children came up with different resolutions. The children are demonstrating good awareness to online safety and are able to explain the correct and incorrect ways of using the internet.
