Welcome back year 3!
Year 3 have had a wonderful first week back after the October half term! This week, we have dived straight into new learning across all of the subjects.
In maths, we have started to revisit the 3 timetables from last year and all children have been showing a great understanding of this. We are slowly progressing onto looking at the 4 and 8 timetables but we can already tell we have some maths geniuses in year 3. We will be looking at simple multiplication fluency as well as linking it to division and looking at commutativity.
In our writing lessons, we will be focusing on a new text. Our text for this half term will be 'The Rhythm of the Rain' by Grahame Baker-Smith. So far we have read the story and have tried to picture the settings without seeing the illustrations in the book. The children have created their own illustrations for their favourite part of the story - some very creative minds!
This half term, in financial education, we are going to plan a party! Natwest Money Sense provide a range of workshops to engage children with how to use money in an efficient manner. To begin this sequence of lessons, the children had to prioritise the most important components needed at a party. The children also explained their reasoning behind what is most and least important. Finally, in PSHE we have started the new topic 'Celebrating Differences'. We have begun this topic by thinking about what family means to me. We also spoke about how special our family members are to us, how all families are unique and how thankful we are for all of them.
