The Village of Leigh is centrally located between Norfolk and Columbus along Highway 91. Our population is 483 with the median income for all households as $52,500. The school serves as a focal point for our community. Through our strong academic history and community support we have increased our enrollment with young families returning to our community and option students from neighboring districts. Leigh is the home of the Colfax County Fair where we display our deep roots in the agriculture industry. We have several service businesses to help meet the needs of our growing community. Recreational activities include a swimming pool, Club 91 Golf Course, bowling alley, and Maple Creek Recreation Center with fishing and camping opportunities.
The enrollment data shows an upward trend for the past four years. In 2017-2018 the enrollment is 229 students PK-12.
Although our EL numbers are low we continue to serve students through our Title III and Migrant programs.
The District incorporates multicultural education in all curriculum areas at all grades. An annual status report is provided to the Board of Education.
The District has a SAT Team to assist teachers with interventions before referring students to SPED. This process has kept our SPED numbers lower than the state average.
The number of free and reduced lunches has increased slightly over the past 15 years, but we continue to remain below the state average.
