TLA kicked off work with the Learner Engine in April 2022 to create an open "map" of the emerging learner-centered landscape. Our goal is to develop a resource to support shared inquiry, learning, connection-making, and action. This site is a draft snapshot of the landscape currently supporting (directly and indirectly) the development of learner-centered approaches for students post-pandemic. The examples offered are intended to be illustrative, rather than definitive, and we've tried to emphasize a broad range of entities.
As you explore the data we've collected thus far, consider the following questions:
Who is currently on the map? Who needs to be? How we might broaden our lens for understanding the ecosystem of organizations, initiatives, and tools supporting learning experiences across environments?
What are emerging motivations and priorities for innovation and improvement?
What parts of the ecosystem seem more developed than others? Who gets to play which roles in which horizons of change? What market dynamics reinforce this?
Where might entities working at different aims or models have unique knowledge to contribute? How might these entities form coalitions for change?
What collaborations and investments, across entities and segments, might help further accelerate personalized, whole-child developing learning that focuses on building holistic competencies and mastery of content?
We plan to ultimately maintain this map as an open tool but are currently in an early-stage development phase; it is not yet intended for broad distribution or sharing. We are actively wrestling with definitions, tagging, and analysis (see the FAQs for some examples). Please consider any commentary or analysis as initial thoughts to provoke additional questions and improvement. Thank you for helping us make it better through your own provocations and pushes. Positive feedback is welcome too!
