Have you shown exceptional leadership in helping to make a meaningful and lasting difference in your community? We’d love to hear about your community leadership efforts and what inspired you to get involved. We’re more interested in the mark you’re making in the world than the marks you’re getting in the classroom. This scholarship program is open to student leaders with an average of 75% and up (outside Quebec), or a minimum R score of 26 in Quebec, who are helping to support positive change in their communities.
TD is committed to helping create conditions that can allow everyone a chance to succeed. The TD Scholarships for Community Leadership are awarded to students who are helping to support change, nurture progress, and contribute to making the world a better place.
TD Scholarships for Community Leadership are open to students across Canada who:
Have demonstrated community leadership
Are in their final year of CEGEP (for students in Quebec), or high school (for students outside Quebec).
Have a minimum overall grade average of 75% (outside Quebec), or a minimum R score of 26 (in Quebec), in their most recently completed school year
Number, Value and Duration of Scholarships: Twenty (20) TD Scholarships for Community Leadership are awarded to students in their last year of high school (outside Quebec) or CEGEP (in Quebec) who have demonstrated leadership in improving their community. Each scholarship has a value of up to $70,000 and includes:
- Up to $10,000 for tuition per year (for up to a maximum of four years)
- $7,500 for living expenses per year (for up to a maximum of four years)

An electronic letter of reference from ND outlining the leadership you've shown at school. They suggest the letter come from a principal, counsellor, or teacher who has been part of your leadership activities.
Two electronic letters of reference from the community organization(s) you have worked with.
Students need to write a 600-word essay describing their community leadership experience.
Two other option essays can be submitted by students a) a 250-word essay outlining your family and personal experiences b) if you have taken a year off community leadership a 250-word essay outlining the reasons why you needed to make this decision.

Students from the Indigenous community face unique challenges and systemic barriers that can make getting a post-secondary education difficult. So, we worked closely with AFOA Canada to build a scholarship program that helps meets the unique needs of students from the Indigenous community.
After twenty-three years of helping Indigenous communities and organizations manage and govern through a focus on management, finance and governance practices and skills, AFOA Canada has come to learn the barriers the Indigenous community faces. Students from the Indigenous community face unique challenges and systemic barriers that can make getting a post-secondary education difficult.
The scholarship program is tailored specifically for Indigenous Peoples and managed by AFOA Canada. TD understands the unique challenges and systemic barriers we face as a People. That’s why we have worked closely with TD to customize a scholarship to meet the needs of students from the Indigenous community.
Eligibility: Regardless of your field of study, scholarships are open to First Nations, Metis and Inuit who are members/ citizens of a First Nation, Metis or Inuit community who:
have applied for a full-time minimum two-year program with an approved post-secondary institution for the next year of study; or
are enrolled in, or accepted to, a full-time minimum two-year program with an approved post-secondary institution for the next year of study.
Scholarship Value:
$10,000 towards tuition each year.¹ ²
$5,000 towards living expenses each year.
Employment opportunities at TD – summer employment between years of study and full-time upon graduation.
¹ For a maximum of four years.
² If tuition is less than $10,000 the balance can be applied towards living expenses.
