Basic Troubleshooting - Windows laptops (7th and 8th grade)
Please read before seeking help - maybe you can solve the problem for yourself!!!
Basic Troubleshooting Steps - Lenovo Laptops
1st Step: Restart (if possible)
2nd Step: Have someone else login to see if the problem still exists - this will tell us if it is a computer issue or a user issue
Adding a Printer
Install Papercut from Software Center
Restart
Search for CM-and install the correct printer.
Troubleshooting - PRINTER and Papercut
If you have installed Papercut and a printer but a)it either freezes Chrome or b) printing never shows up, please do the following
Open Software Center
Search for REINSTALL Papercut
Click Uninstall (let it run)
Click Install (let it run)
Restart your computer
Papercut should launch on restart. Click sign in with Google. Open Papercut and use directions above for ADDING A PRINTER
Top Row of Keyboard Does Not Work (volume, brightness)
Check to see if the Fn key has a green light, if so then
a. Hold down the Fn key and press the Esc key (top left corner)
b. Fn key should not have a green light now
c. Test the top row of keys now
If Chrome won't open pages, or is so slow...
Open a Chrome Browser
Click on the three dots in the top right corner.
Choose Settings
Choose Reset Settings
Choose Restore settings to their original defaults.
Restart your computer
Sign back in to Chrome
RESTRICTED BROWSER: Every time a student does a search it is filtered and restricted. But, a direct link allows the website
Open a Chrome Browser
2. Click on the three dots in the top right corner
3. Click Settings
4. Search for "Search Engine" and choose MANAGE SEARCH ENGINE AND SITE SEARCH
Under Search Engines click the three dots and delete everything but Google.
5. Close the browser, relaunch the browser and then search. It will default to Google.
**You can also double check in settings that Google is your default browser by searching for that in the Chrome Settings as well.

Where can I Install Software onto my Laptop?
You will only be able to install Leander ISD "approved" software from the Software Center:
1. Log into the laptop as yourself
2. Navigate to the Desktop
3. Launch Software Center
4. Search for the application that you need
5. Click on the application once
6. Click on Install icon (bottom right)
7. Wait patiently
8. Follow the on screen directions
Only some keys on the keyboard don't work/Keyboard doesn't work at all
Hold the power button for 15 seconds. It seems like a long time, but count outloud with "One- Mississippi, two Mississippi". If you don't hold it long enough it will put your computer to sleep and not shut down.
Wait 10 seconds, power back on. This fixes 99 percent of all keyboard issues unless there was a spill
