Chromebook Troubleshooting

How to login
Student Login
Student Google Login:
firstname.lastname##@k12.leanderisd.org (## = last two-digits of student id number)
(take out any punctuation in the name)
password is yyyymmdd (birthdate) unless you have changed it.
Student Classlink Launchpad and Network (for BYOD) Login:
first8oflastname_StudentID#
(take out any punctuation in the name)
password is yyyymmdd (birthdate)
unless you have changed it.
*What if the Chromebook isn’t connecting to the internet?
Only connect to LISD-Wifi, never to LISD-Guest or any other network. Click the Wifi symbol at the bottom right, choose LISD-Wifi.

*What to do if the Chromebook isn’t turning on:
Try holding the refresh key (curved arrow) and power button to hard reset the device, then press the power once to turn on.
Try plugging the Chromebook in, then open and press the power button once and allow wait time for it to come on. Sometimes we press the power button again too quickly and put the Chromebook back to sleep.
How to Print with a Chromebook
If Chrome won't open pages, or is so slow...
Open a Chrome Browser
Click on the three dots in the top right corner.
Choose Settings
Choose Reset Settings
Choose Restore settings to their original defaults.
Restart your computer
Sign back in to Chrome

There is a strange bar at the top of my screen that zooms in or mirrors where my mouse is
You have accidentally turned on an accessibility function.
Click on the time box on your screen at the bottom right.
Click on Accessibility
Toggle off "DOCKED MAGNIFIER"
*What to do if the keyboard stops working:
Sometimes after switching from tablet mode, the keyboard will be unresponsive. You may be able to resolve the issue by closing and reopening the Chromebook or folding it in a V-shape, then an upside down V-shape. If these actions don’t resolve the issue, a shut down and restart should do the trick.
*What to do if my Chromebook screen is magnified or the Chromebook is talking or doing other weird things:
An accessibility feature may be turned on. Here’s how to turn it off.
Click the time at the bottom right.
Click the Accessibility icon (person).
Scroll through and uncheck anything that is checked.
*What to do if my screen is rotated:
Press Control, Shift, Refresh (curly arrow) buttons at the same time to rotate the screen.
RESTRICTED BROWSER: Every time a student does a search it is filtered and restricted. But, a direct link allows the website
Open a Chrome Browser
2. Click on the three dots in the top right corner
3. Click Settings
4. Search for "Search Engine" and choose MANAGE SEARCH ENGINE AND SITE SEARCH
Under Search Engines click the three dots and delete everything but Google.
5. Close the browser, relaunch the browser and then search. It will default to Google.
**You can also double check in settings that Google is your default browser by searching for that in the Chrome Settings as well.
