All AP exams will be administered online this year. The AP Music Theory test is scheduled for Tuesday, May 19 at 11:00 am CST. This date and time is non-negotiable. Put this information on your calendar and make the necessary arrangements to be available! More details regarding how the test will be administered and submitted will be provided on or after April 28, 2020.
YES, I AM TAKING THE AP EXAM - This week's assignments should be completed using the same testing guidelines and timing as determined by the online AP Music Theory exam procedures. All procedures are outlined in detail below.
Please find a quiet place where you will be undisturbed for the next hour. You will need access to the following: a hard surface to use while completing your Free Response Questions, a device that will allow you to digitally access the sample questions, a voice recording application (cell phone, tablet or desktop), a timer, a pencil, and an instrument or keyboard (for your sight-singing).
Print the document "AP Exam Answer Sheet".
Open your voice recording application (make sure that it's ready to go) and minimize for later use.
Open the document titled "2020 Exam Sample Questions" - DO NOT PRINT!! and do not scroll past the cover page until your time begins.
Set a timer (on another device, through a split screen on your desk/laptop or use the timer on your microwave) for 25 minutes. Here's a link to an online timer: https://www.timeanddate.com/timer/.
Once you are ready - Start the timer and read the instructions for the Sample Questions, copy the necessary information, and complete BOTH questions within the 25 minute time limit.
Take a picture of your completed work and upload the photo to the LDHS@Home submission link, within 5 minutes. (This will simulate uploading to the AP Testing link). Make sure that the picture is clear (write dark enough to be read clearly) and taken from directly above the document.
As soon as you have finished uploading your Free Response Questions, immediately reset your timer for 15 minutes (start it) and proceed to the sight-singing portion of the sample test.
Bring your voice recorder to the front of your device. Go back to the sample test and scroll down to SS example 1 - you may use your instrument/keyboard to aid in your practice of each line, but remember...YOU ONLY HAVE 15 MINUTES TO PRACTICE BOTH LINES AND RECORD!!
Recording Procedures: Record Melody 1, PAUSE YOUR RECORDER, practice melody 2, UNPAUSE YOUR RECORDER, then record Melody 2. Only stop your recorder once you have recorded both melodies.
Once the 15 minute timer expires, you have 5 minutes to upload your recordings to the LDHS@Home submission Link. You may have to upload it to your google drive and then cut and paste the link to a google doc for submission.
Watch the review videos for this week. No video log this week. This week's video are specifically geared to help you prepare to take the online test.
