UC Santa Cruz opened in 1965 with 650 students. During the 2018-2019 academic year, 16,983 undergraduate and 1,822 graduate students were enrolled.
Monterey Bay is one of the youngest Cal State Universities, it was founded in 1994. Though the university is relatively new, the first class was welcomes in 1996, the site was historically a decomissioned military fort. CSUMB offers over 80 majors, minors and concentrations to meet the needs of their student body including Nursing, environmental Studies, Computer Science, and Marine Science. They have an emphasis on research and technical studies, contributing to the success of their graduates.
