Mental Health is SUPER Important!
It includes your emotional, psychological, & social well-being.
It just means your mental health influences how you feel, think, & act.
It's important to care for you mental health for SOO many reasons.
Most importantly, because it impacts how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. It impacts pretty much everything we do!
When we're sad or upset, we act differently than if we were happy or excited.
For example:
Say you're having a great day & can't wait to share with your parents. When they get home, they begin to complain of the chores/tasks you didn't complete? How does that make you feel? How do you respond to that?
Maybe a bit upset, annoyed, sad?
Maybe you respond by talking back? Or ignoring them?
Well, the emotions & actions your parents take affect your emotions & actions.
Great! That's a step in the right direction!
We now know that our MENTAL HEALTH affects our mood. However, it's important to note that its okay to have BAD days or have NEGATIVE EMOTIONS. We all do, cause we're HUMAN.
However, we should learn ways to make ourselves feel better, even if its just a LITTLE better. Things you do to help you cope- AKA COPING SKILLS
Coping skills are activities or actions we take to help ourselves feel better.
For example: watching a funny show or clip when we feel sad.
There are lots of activities/actions you can do!
Watch a funny show
Listen to music
Color/Draw
Make TikTok videos
Go for a walk/run
Exercise
Talk to a friend/family
Meditate
Yoga
Visit Ms. Rafael's Calm Room to help you feel better!
and much more!
That is TOTALLY okay!
These coping skills are suppose to help a bit. It's okay, if you need additional support. There are various individuals you can reach out to at school. Such as:
Teachers
A-G Counselor
Grade Counselor
PSWs: Ms. Moreno & Ms. Rafael (that's me!)
There are also outside resources you can reach out for support.
If you want to connect with the PSWS, go to the HOME page to find how to connect with Ms. Moreno or myself or additional resources outside of the school.
We are here to support YOU! Reach out!
