EYFS and Key Stage 1 Termly Highlights: Curiosity, Discovery and Achievement!
It has been a fantastic term across Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2, and I am incredibly proud of the learning and progress our youngest pupils have made.
In Nursery, the new climbing frame has supported the Little Birds in building confidence, resilience and friendships. Their learning around celebrations from around the world has been brought to life through stories, creative play and a memorable visit to the local Buddhist Temple, helping them develop an early understanding of different cultures and traditions.
Reception have enjoyed exploring the theme of houses and homes, beginning with a local walk around Dartford and expanding their learning through stories, comparisons of different environments and celebrations such as Diwali, Bonfire Night and Christmas. Their Nativity performance was a joyful celebration of their hard work and confidence.
In Year 1, children became enthusiastic historians, exploring how the past influences the present through learning about toys, monarchs and Queen Victoria. Their learning was enriched through storytelling, geography and scientific investigations into materials, and they finished the term with a wonderful Christmas performance.
Year 2 engaged deeply with their learning about significant events, particularly the Great Fire of London. Through role play, writing and hands-on investigations, they explored causes, consequences and how learning from the past can lead to improvements.
I was absolutely delighted to attend the Nursery Carol Concert, the Reception Nativity, and the Year 1 and Year 2 Concerts. The children performed with confidence, joy and pride, making these events a true highlight of the term.
Thank you for your continued support — it has been a pleasure to see our children grow and thrive. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Key Stage 2 Termly Highlights: A Module of Merriment, Mastery, and World-Changing Action!
What an absolutely incredible, action-packed module it has been for our Key Stage 2 superstars! From ancient history and space exploration to community giving and show-stopping performances, the children have truly embodied our school values of determined, persistent achievers.
Year 3 embraced their inner archaeologists during a fascinating trip to Lesnes Abbey. Not only did they have the exciting opportunity to dig for fossils, but they also explored and learned all about Stone Age tools. They brought history to life, connecting their classroom learning with real-world experience!
Year 4 fully conquered their Roman topic this term! They were completely immersed in the era, undertaking practical and creative tasks. This included designing their own magnificent Roman shields and, in a fantastic display of teamwork and engineering, constructing their own Hadrian’s Wall. They were true Roman citizens for the module!
The Year 5 classroom became a hub of intergalactic learning as they delved into the topic of Space. The students showcased their artistic and scientific skills by creating their own amazing paper maché solar systems. But the highlight must be the incredible non-fiction writing they produced: autobiographies inspired by the life of astronaut Mae Jemison. The quality of the writing was exceptional, demonstrating that their ambitions are truly sky-high!
Year 6 had a hugely productive and meaningful module. They plunged into the Victorian era with an immersive workshop and got hands-on by making their own traditional Victorian toys. They also combined STEM and festive cheer by making Christmas trees using their own electrical circuits! Inspired by their class reader, Street Child, and with a desire to make a real difference, they concluded their module with a powerful message. They hosted a moving Poetry Slam to raise awareness about poverty and took tangible steps to "change the world" by making and selling their own decorations to raise money for Barnardos, the children's charity. We are so proud of their social conscience and determined spirit!
Our KS2 Choir kicked off the festive season in the most heartwarming way by performing a beautiful selection of Christmas songs at Priory Mews care home. The residents and children alike enjoyed the performance, proving that the gift of music truly brings joy to all ages. Well done to our singers!
The end of the module concluded with a spectacular display of talent and Christmas cheer as the children took to the stage to perform for their parents. Year 5 charmed everyone with a delightful French Nativity and Year 3 and 4 shone as they sang a collection of joyful Christmas songs and recited poetry. They were all truly amazing and finished the module on a wonderful, high note!
What an incredible and busy module it has been. Thank you for your continued support in helping them flourish. Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
