What an amazing start to our first two modules of 2025 for our LAD linguists!
Year 3 have embarked on their language learning journey with great enthusiasm and have started learning about french phonics and how this can help their pronunciation of words. They have learned basic skills such as greeting in French, numbers, days and months.
Year 4’s learning has taken them to practise their knowledge of phonics, revisiting and building on previously acquired knowledge. They have also learned to talk about themselves in French. They have revisited and built on essential knowledge such as numbers, days of the week and months. They have learned to count in 10s to 100 and learned the French alphabet.
Year 5 have been amateur meteorologists and have learned the weather vocabulary which culminated in a presentation about the weather in their chosen francophone country. The children also have written their first introductory letter to their French pen friends from our partner school in France. They are eagerly awaiting their Christmas wishes cards all the way from the South of France! Furthermore, Year 5 children have been amazing in their dedication in rehearsing and performing their French Nativity play in front of families and friends. They performed with confidence and displayed their fantastic linguistic skills. Well done year 5s!
Year 6 have kick started the year with phonics acquisition and practice. They also completed their learning on the topic of school and have learned the vocabulary related to subjects, likes and dislikes and time. The children are currently learning to talk about themselves and where they are in the world. They have also discussed the importance of history in how the world looks today and why French is spoken in other areas of the world such as Canada and Africa.
