What a fantastic start to the year we have had in Reception! The children have settled really well into school life at Dartford Primary Academy and are progressing really well with their phonics and maths skills. This term the children have been using their phonics sounds to try to read and write simple CVC words such as ‘pot’ and ‘fix’.
In maths we have been focussing on the numbers up to 5, knowing what’s one more or one less than another number and how 5 can be composed of different numbers such as 1 and 4 or 2 and 3.
For our inquiry we have been exploring homes in the UK, seeing what different types of houses there are and different environments we find homes in such as towns, cities or the countryside. We went on a walk around Dartford to see how many different types of houses we could find. We even saw some of our own houses! Finally we used Goldilocks and the Three Bears to learn about the rooms of a house
We finished off this fantastic term with our Christmas Nativity, the children have been working really hard to learn the songs and they did a marvellous job!
