What a fantastic term it has been!
We have explored life in Victorian Britain, the Great Fire of London and how Mayan Civilization has impacted our lives today. In Year One, the children have become experts in historical toys and have loved exploring artefacts from the past. In year two, the children became Metropolitan Police Detectives as they investigated the causes of the Great Fire of London and who was to blame. They’ve made great progress in their writing as they have written diary entries in role and really focused on their descriptive vocabulary.
This term, our curious Year Three students delved into an intriguing inquiry centered around the impact of new materials throughout history. Their journey as young archaeologists culminated in a thrilling field trip to Lesnes Abbey Woods, where they unearthed historical gems and deepened their understanding of the influence, materials have had on human lives. Year Four have been keen Historians this term, exploring the Mayan Civilisation as they reflect upon the links between the past and the present. Embarking on an extraterrestrial adventure, our Year Five students navigated the mysteries of space, unraveling the intricacies of the Solar System. The popularity of this topic amongst pupils is clear to see through their fantastic biographies of Mae Jemison and depth of knowledge. Year Six have explored how past societies can influence how we live. Their immersion into Victorian society through guest speakers and workshops, has lead to careful reflection, debate and action on how modern day charities can change lives of the poor.
Many thanks to all of our families for supporting us in our Christmas performances. We are so incredibly proud of our children and the risks they have bravely taken in performing in front of an audience - some of them for the very first time.
We hope you have a restful Christmas which is able to be spent not focusing on any gifts but on the time we are able to spend together.
Take care and stay safe
