IB and Careers News

IB News

What a fantastic term it has been! We've had a wonderful time delving into the IB learner profiles throughout our learning, assemblies and much more. The children have really embraced these profiles, applying them not only in their learning but also in their everyday lives, both in and out of the classroom!

Throughout the term, our young learners have been enthusiastic inquirers, especially as they've explored the Easter story through research, sparking their curiosity and understanding.

As we approach the Easter holidays, we encourage you to keep us updated on any activities or learning happening at home through ClassDojo. We'd also love to hear about any family festivities you have planned for Easter.

Over the last couple of terms, the children at DPA have taken some amazing action and have taken on the role of fundraisers! In Reception, some of our youngest learners have shown incredible generosity by raising an impressive £260 for the charity Crisis. Through their hard work and dedication at the bake sale, our Reception students have made a meaningful contribution towards this noble cause, demonstrating that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a big difference!

Furthermore, Year 5 has been actively involved in raising funds for the Wells on Wheels charity. Wells on Wheels is an organisation that aims to provide clean and safe drinking water to communities in need around the world. By organising a car wash for DPA staff, our Year 5 students have shown remarkable initiative and dedication to making a positive impact on a global scale by raising an amazing £464.66! Their efforts exemplify the importance of global citizenship and the power of collective action in addressing pressing humanitarian issues!

Congratulations to Year 3 for their fantastic work as designers and chefs! They planned, designed, and created their own pizza box, and even made pizzas from scratch!

Looking ahead to next term, we'd like to invite parents and family members to share their experiences and careers with our students. If you're interested, please reach out to Miss Bhaker & Ms. Jn Baptiste via our school office at office@dartfordprimary.org.uk.

Careers Related Learning

It has been a great term thus far with lots of amazing career opportunities for all our children . Provocation began in all the classes with children being exposed and informed about the career links to their inquiry. Beginning from  Nursery and Reception where the children explored librarians , shopkeepers and emergency services  all the way to Year 6 where the children explored being a nutritionist and cardiologist. This has allowed children to be more curious about the journey and steps to achieve their career goals and dreams.

Finally , as part of Sports for Champions UK,  we had the pleasure of welcoming an athlete  to  DPA which made the career links even more prominent and helped to show the children that they are able to achieve any goal and career as long as they work hard .

If you are interested in sharing your career journey or to support the children’s career journey exploration  at DPA , please do not hesitate to contact Miss Jn Baptiste via the school office at office@dartfordprimary.org.uk.

Kind regards,

Miss Jn Baptiste & Miss Bhaker
