As we venture further into the academic year, we are excited to share the remarkable progress and the myriad of opportunities our club programme offers the children for their personal development and growth. Not only do we have a dedicated team at DPA who offer a wide variety of choices for our children, we are always looking to welcome professional coaches to boost our existing programmes. This term, we were delighted to introduce Wave to our team, offering gymnastics for our younger participants. In addition to the after-school clubs, the children also have the chance to participate in a wide variety of activities during lunchtime. These activities are organised and led by both dedicated sports leaders and staff members. So, the children have multiple opportunities to engage in different activities throughout the day. Interested in joining a club or exploring new interests? It's never too late to get involved, there is always something for everyone.
JASS Awards
Another way that we are promoting the personal development of our pupils is by trialling a new scheme called the JASS awards in some year groups. This is a scheme, similar to the Duke of Edinburgh’s award, where the children complete activities from categories including ‘get active, stay active’, my interests, adventure and ‘me and my world’. This is a great way for our pupils to be risk-takers, try new activities and learn new skills.
Our year 5s are completing their awards using after school clubs and other activities at home. They have taken part in an incredible array of activities from playing football at the Arsenal Academy to planning their own adventures by train. Our most popular interest activity is baking and the children have been cooking up a storm! They have also been supporting our local community and nature in their ‘me and my world’ activities.
Some of our year 3s and 6s are completing their awards using lunchtime clubs. This has encouraged them to be persistent and improve their skills in football, table tennis, dance and drama so far.
We are planning how we can share a similar award scheme with even more of our pupils next year.
Sporting events
This term has been filled with exhilarating moments, teamwork, and outstanding achievements across various sporting disciplines.
We are proud to announce that our school football team has emerged triumphant in the highly competitive regional football league! After months of dedication, perseverance, and unwavering team spirit, our talented players clinched the championship title with their exceptional skills on the field. We are now looking forward to finals day where our teamwork will be put to an even tougher test.
We also took a girls' futsal team to participate in a thrilling festival, showcasing their prowess and passion for the sport. It was a day filled with fast-paced action, skillful manoeuvres, and friendly competition. Our team demonstrated exemplary sportsmanship and determination, earning praise from fellow competitors and spectators alike. We applaud our girls for their outstanding performance and commend their dedication to representing our school with pride.
The spirit of healthy competition was alive and thriving during our inter-house competitions this term. Students from all houses enthusiastically participated in mini tournaments showcasing their catching and throwing skills. It was wonderful to witness them displaying their talents, encouraging each other, and fostering a sense of camaraderie within their respective houses. Congratulations to all participants for their admirable sportsmanship and commendable efforts.
As we celebrate these achievements, let us also recognize the values of teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship that lie at the heart of our sporting endeavours. We extend our gratitude to the coaches, teachers, and parents who continue to support and inspire our students on their sporting journeys.
