JUNIORS

Governor's Scholar Program (GSP)

The Governor’s Scholars Program is a summer residential program for outstanding rising seniors. The application process starts in mid to late September; however, students should be preparing to apply at the beginning of their freshmen year. Students should keep an ongoing log of their extracurricular, work, and volunteer activities throughout high school. They should also prepare and take college entrance exams prior to their junior year.

LCHS can only submit a limited number of applications. The amount is based on the student population. Completed applications are usually due to the guidance office in November. Then, a selection committee scores the applications and announces who will be able to apply for GSP. Applications are submitted in January. A few months later, students usually find out if they have been accepted.

Scoring is anonymous. Applicants should ask teacher and community recommenders to submit two recommendations: one with the applicant name and one with ***** substituted for the name.
