End of Term Newsletter

9th February 2023

Principal's Message:

It feels unbelievable that we are already at the end of term 3. It has been yet another busy term with lots of events and opportunities for our children to engage with. Please make sure that you take a look at each of the year group pages to see the learning highlights for the term.

We were really pleased to see the high level of parental engagement during our mini-exhibitions. It was wonderful to see the community coming together to focus on our children's learning and outcomes. It was so nice to see families collaborating and engaging together. There was a real buzz of excitement.

We also had a group of children representing the academy at the Maidstone Light Up Festival. A huge thank you to the volunteers who took part. I am sure that they would agree that it was a brilliant experience with an electric atmosphere.

And finally, last night we held a Bingo night for all of our community. It was really well attended by both staff and families and a lot of fun was had by all. A huge thank you to those who made it possible, including Olive Dining who put on some delicious food for us.

Our first day back in the new term is Monday 20th February. We look forward to seeing you all then.

Have a lovely half term.

Miss S Brading

Office Messages:

Absence Text Facility

Thank you to those parents and carers who are using the new text facility to report their child(ren) absent from the academy; this is working really well. This feature has also resulted in less unauthorised absences being recorded as a result of parents not providing a reason for absence when their child is not in school.

A reminder that, should you wish to use the text service to report your child absent, the number is 07860 054453. Please only use this number to report absences - messages of any other nature are unmonitored and will not be responded to.

Attendance Queries

Please can we ask that parents/carers do not call the academy office with queries about attendance marks in My Child at School until after 10.00am. Within the classrooms, the registers close at 9.15am. Following this, it can take some time for office staff to enter attendance marks for any pupils who have arrived late or are absent from the academy for any reason, as well as deal with any queries, phone calls, emails and texts and attend to other matters that may arise and need to take priority.

From 10.00am you are welcome to call or email the academy should you believe that the attendance mark showing in your child(ren)'s My Child at School account is incorrect and staff will be more than happy to look into, explain and/or resolve any query you may have. Thank you for your patience and understanding with regards to this.

Contacting the class teachers:

If you have concerns that you would like to raise with the academy, please do so via the school office email address on contactus@langleyparkprimaryacademy.org.uk  and it will be directed to the relevant members of staff.

National Online Safety

Fake news can be false information, photos or videos purposefully created to confuse or misinform. It can also be genuine information that has been manipulated to deceive. It's important that children learn how to distinguish between real news and fake news, so that they don't inadvertently share something which isn't true or believe something which could be misleading.

In the below guide you will find tips on a number of potential risks such as embarrassment, negative influences on people's behaviour and negative emotions.
