During this inquiry the children welcomed our new additions to Seedlings. The children developed their communication skills in small group and large group experiences.
The children shared the story of 'Goldilocks and the three bears'. Using their words and gestures to recreate pieces from the story and to retell it within their own play.
During our second line of inquiry, we explored how we express ourselves through stories. By engaging with beloved tales such as 'The Tiger Who Came to Tea', 'The Three Little Pigs', and 'The Gingerbread Man', the children discovered the many ways stories convey emotions, ideas, and cultural traditions.
These narratives helped them develop an understanding of storytelling elements, such as characters and settings, whilst encouraging creativity and imagination.
Through discussions and creating their own story versions, pupils learned how stories serve as tools for communication and self-expression.
The children worked hard to explore a variety of stories that developed their understanding of how cultures can be celebrated in stories and preserve traditions. Stories like 'The Great Race', which explained the origins of the Lunar New Year zodiac, and 'Mr Wolf’s Pancakes', which featured elements of European folktales, showed how stories connected people and shared cultural values.
As part of the children's agency this term they joined in with a dance workshop for the Lunar New Year celebration and explored how to move their bodies to represent different feelings in relation to the characters in the story.
