It feels unbelievable that we have reached the end of yet another term.
If you regularly follow the newsletter, you will know how busy this term has been with lots of experiential learning taking place. From trips to workshops, we have provided a large number of opportunities to grow the children's personal development.
Trust Parent Survey
Thank you to all of the parents who have engaged with the Trust parent survey. There are some interesting insights but it is overwhelmingly positive. We will look at producing an overview called "You Said, We Did" as we are always looking for ways to improve. One thing that should be noted, however, is that a few concerns were raised through the survey that have never been brought to our attention. We are always keen to address concerns promptly and at the earliest point so please do come to us in order that we can navigate these situations together.
Reading At Home
Following our recent cycle of Pupil Progress Meetings, which are designed for us to assess and support each child's academic journey, a common theme emerged. Teachers across the board noted with concern that a significant number of children are not engaging in reading at home.
Research consistently highlights the profound impact that reading at home can have on pupils' outcomes. Studies indicate that children who read regularly outside of school not only experience improved literacy skills but also demonstrate greater confidence and a broader vocabulary. This can lead to enhanced performance across all subjects.
To foster a culture of reading at home, I encourage you to find moments in your daily routine to engage with books. Consider setting aside a dedicated time each evening for reading, be it during dinner preparations or before bed. Additionally, incorporating reading into daily activities, such as visiting your local library or discussing storylines, can make this practice enjoyable and enriching.
Safeguarding
As you know, we take safeguarding extremely seriously at our academy therefore when an issue arises, it is important that it is addressed swiftly. Therefore, I would like all parents/carers to note that they are not to enter the academy building without being accompanied by a member of staff. That includes when dropping off children at the main office. All of our pupils are able to navigate their way to their classrooms independently and do not need to be accompanied by a parent. Thank you for respecting this.
Staffing updates
We are pleased to share that Mrs Lynes will be returning to the academy next term following her recovery. She is really looking forward to building her time up and working with the children again. Miss Gilbey and Mr Downard will also be returning following their alternative placements as part of their journey towards acquiring teaching qualifications.
Unfortunately, we are saying a fond farewell to Miss Phillips, LSA, and Miss Everett, Office Apprentice. Miss Everett, for a long time, has expressed a desire to move into the more pastoral side of life of school. She has been successful in acquiring the role of Family Liaison Officer at another LAT school; Leigh Academy Oaks. She is only moving down the road so I am more than certain that we will see her on occasions!
Miss Phillips has been part of our team for 2 years and has worked right across the academy in many different year groups. Miss Phillips is moving on to an opportunity at another school to embark on a teaching degree. I am sure they will value her experience and input.
Please do take the time to enjoy the class pages of this newsletter to have a window into the children's learning journey for this term.
Have a wonderful break and we will see you all on Monday 24th February.

We respectfully ask that you address any concerns or issues with your child's class teacher in the first instance. If it remains unresolved then your concern will then be escalated to the Key Stage Lead and/or Mrs Neame, Vice Principal. In the unlikely event that it continues to remain unresolved, it will be escalated to Miss Brading at that point.
