IMPACT Peer Coaches/Mentor
As a mentor in TCSJ’s IMPACT program, the expectation of the program is that each mentor understands and agrees to abide by the following roles and responsibilities:
Must be assigned before the intern begins teaching.
Must not be the intern's evaluator or university supervisor.
Must be qualified as evidenced by:
Holding a valid Clear (or Life) credential in the content area they are supporting.
Possessing EL authorization.
Completing three years of successful teaching.
Agreement to complete 10 hours of initial training (with additional training as needed).
Peer coaching, mentoring, support, and guidance (5 hours/week) can include but not limited to:
Weekly curriculum and/or lesson planning
Co-planning and/or co-teaching
Consulting on unique needs
Professional development
Assistance with understanding and using assessment information
Assistance with planning lessons that are designed to support English Learners
Assistance with support for and assessment of progress for students with exceptionalities
Providing observational feedback
Problem-solving regarding site issues
University Support Supervisors
Responsible for supporting and evaluating the intern's proficiency based on program requirements.
Partnership between Peer Mentor and Support Supervisor
Work collaboratively in supporting the professional growth of the intern, as evidenced in support logs.
LUSD Compensation Options
If you are planning to earn professional development units at TCSJ by enrolling in the IMPACT program, you will need to submit a Unit Advancement form. This form should be submitted electronically by the link provided prior to beginning the course.
For those of you opting to earn a stipend rather than units please work with your Office Supervisor on completing a Stipend Request Form at the end of the school year.
