Middle School Core Setting Guidance
The intent of a core setting is to provide students transitioning from a self-contained elementary classroom where they are with the same group of students and teacher all day into a schedule that is partially self-contained for two or more periods.
Education Code 44258.1 states any two or more subjects (academic or elective) may be "cored" and do not have to be consecutive periods of the day.
Cannot core ELD classes without proper authorizsation - ELAM would not work
Cannot core "Homeroom" if no instruction/grade is being given
If you are coring rotating electives - the groups must remain the same
