Induction Program
Induction Program
California has a two-tiered credentialing system for teachers. The second tier of preparation, “Teacher Induction” is a two-year job-embedded individualized induction program that is focused on extensive support and mentoring to new teachers in their first and second year of teaching. Induction is required for both General Education and Education Specialist teachers to clear their preliminary credential.
Induction Experience consists of:
Orientation to be completed by the candidate within a week of program enrollment
Candidates are matched to mentors by their school and/or district
Attending Monthly Learning Seminars to dive deep into the California Standards for the Teaching Profession (CSTPs).
Accessing and utilizing Canvas LMS through TCSJ’s Google Suite
Candidates develop an Individualized Learning Plan (ILP) that provides the road map for the candidate’s induction experience
The Individualized Learning Plan (ILP) documents two full cycles of inquiry
The Individualized Learning Plan (ILP) is developed in consultation with the mentor and the site administrator
At least 1 hour of mentor support per week (outside of induction events)
Candidates reflect upon their professional teacher practice using the California Standards for the Teaching Profession (CSTP)
Completing and submitting all required induction items in Canvas
