Set up Windows 10 Mail

This page is targeted at

  • Windows 10 Mail users

Hint: Mail is an email client included by default in Windows 10.

Get Windows 10 Mail ready for KUMail by following the steps below.

If you already have other accounts in Mail, be sure to add KUMail as a new, separate account to prevent trouble.

Before you start...

When some settings about privacy are turned off, the setup process will fail. Click the Start button > Settings (gear icon) > Mail and turn on the settings below:

  • Allow email access on this device

  • Mail and Calendar under Choose apps that can access your email

If you use Windows 10 Calendar with Mail, you also need to allow Mail to access your Calendar. Click the Start button > Settings (gear icon) > Calendar and then turn on:

  • Allow access to calendars on this device

  • Mail and Calendar under Allow apps to access your calendar

1. Click the Start button and select Mail.

2. Click Add account if you use Mail for the first time.

If you're not a first-time user, click Account > Add account.

3. Choose Google.

4. Enter your KUMail address and click Next.

5. Sign in with your SPS-ID and password.

After you click Login, you'll be asked to authenticate with a second factor. For more on this multi-factor authentication, see Multi-Factor Authentication User's Guide.

6. Mail requests access to your Google account. Click ALLOW.

7. Enter your name as shown to others and click Sign in.

8. Click Done.

Windows 10 Mail is now ready for KUMail.

Note:

  • When you set up for the first time, it may take some time for Mail to retrieve your messages. Don't close the window until it's over.

  • If you want to change your sender address (From address), you must add it to the web version of Gmail in advance.
