1. Intellectual Property
Intellectual Property means and includes rights existing from time to time in any applicable jurisdiction, including common law, beneficial, equitable and registered rights to Confidential Information, Knowledge, Inventions, Works, Designs, Trademarks, Trade Names, Technologies, Plant breeders rights, or any other such kind of intellectual property rights, whether registered or unregistered and including all applications (or rights to apply) for, and renewals or extensions of, such rights and all similar or equivalent rights or forms of protection which may now or in the future subsist in any part of the world, including any pending applications, rights to file applications and rights to priority for any of the aforementioned.
2. The Service Platform and Content.
The Service platforms and any trademarks, issued patents, and patent applications, copyrights and copyright registrations and applications, rights in ideas, designs, works of authorship, derivative works, and all other intellectual property rights (collectively, “Intellectual Property”) relating to the Service platforms are proprietary to KRIC, Pakistan. Intellectual Property rights related to the Content provided by KRIC, Pakistan’s participating scholars, libraries, universities, publishers, scholarly societies and other Content contributors are proprietary to them, subject to the rights of third parties.
3. KRIC, Pakistan and Institutional Licensee Trademarks
KRIC, Pakistan’s and Institutional Licensee’s names or trademarks may not be used without permission except:
(i) KRIC, Pakistan may use Institutional Licensees’ names and/ or the names of their libraries alongside the names of other participants in brochures or other materials identifying institutions participating in its Services, and
(ii) KRIC, Pakistan shall use name and logo of affiliated individuals or institutions to announce authorization to use of the Services.
4. Application to Intellectual Property.
This Policy is applicable to all Intellectual Property developed or created in the course of work or study by/ with KRIC, Pakistan. This Policy extends to all KRIC Personnel and Students and applies to all programs, including all campuses, teaching sites and institutions, owned, controlled, managed, affiliated, attached and/ or operated by KRIC, Pakistan, located throughout the world subject to local laws. This Policy shall also apply to all Researchers who have established legal relationship with the KRIC, Pakistan based on which the Researcher is bound by this Policy. Such a legal relationship may arise pursuant to the provision of law, collective or individual agreement. It is the responsibility of the Researcher to ensure that prior to commencing any research activity in collaboration with any third party, the terms and conditions of cooperation be set forth in a written agreement (hereinafter referred to as Research Agreement).
5. Notifications of Violations
If you believe that content/ materials in the KRIC, Pakistan’s website, social media pages or achieves violates your copyright or otherwise violates your rights, please, inform KRIC, Pakistan through email at info@KRIC.edu.pk or postal mail at 9 Noon Avenue, C-Block, Muslim Town, Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. Please, provide information, consistent with the Copyright Act:
(a) a physical or electronic signature of a person authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner;
(b) identification of the copyrighted work(s) claimed to have been infringed;
(c) identification of the infringing material and information that will permit KRIC, Pakistan to locate the material;
(d) information that will permit us to contact you including an address, telephone number, and, if available, an electronic mail address;
(e) a statement by you that, in your good faith/ belief, use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; and
(f) a statement that the information in the notification is accurate, and that you are authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed.
Once KRIC, Pakistan receives this notification or if KRIC, Pakistan learns of the claim from another source, KRIC, Pakistan may remove such content pending the resolution of the claim.
